Samuel Bergen died at his home near Hopewell Wednesday morning at 3 o’clock, after a protracted illness of several months of diabetes. The funeral services will be held at Hopewell church this morning at 11 o’clock conducted by Rev. Pugh. The remains will not be opened at the church but they can be seen by friends at the house up to 10 o’clock a.m. Mr. Bergen was fifty-eight years old the 21st of last March and has resided in this county nearly all that time as he was but six months old when he came here from Kentucky. He was a most estimable citizen and his death will be mourned by a large circle of friends in addition to numerous relatives.

Resolutions
Resolutions adopted by the Bargersville Detective Co. on the death of the late Samuel Bergen.
WHEREAS, In the providence of God we are called upon to mourn the loss of an esteemed brother, one who was intimately associated with us in the work of our organization and as a friend and neighbor, Therefore, be it
Resolved, That in the death of Brother Samuel Bergen we have lost one of our most active and useful members, one whose every impulse was responsive to duties call. While we shall miss him, in our councils, we will remember his good qualities and strive to emulate his examples.
Resolved, That we deeply sympathize with the family and friends of our departed brother in their sad affliction, but their loss is his eternal gain.
Resolved, Further that these resolutions be placed upon record, a copy given to the family of the deceased, and that they be published in the county papers.
