She was born January 8, 1919 in the town of Alban, Portage County, the daughter of the late Ferdinand "Fred" and Bertha (Buska) Viertel.
On January 22, 1938 Ardale was united in marriage to Edwin Karschney in Galloway. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1989.
Survivors include two sons, Edwin "Duke" (Donna) Karschney, Tigerton and William (Kay) Karschney, Hatley;three daughters, Karen Carlson, Elderon, Sandy (John) Vollmer, Tigerton and Marlene (Floyd) Matteson, Jr., Elderon; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren;one brother, Adolph Viertel, Rosholt; and two sisters, Ruth Brinkman, Mosinee and Dorothy Wysocki, Schofield.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ardale was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Vernon,one sister, Lorraine Zabrowski and one son-in-law,John Carlson.
Funeral services were held June 28, 1995 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galloway. The Rev. Herbert Zoromski officiated. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
