VIRGINIA BEACH - Freda Eckmann Schloss, 85, of the 5000 block of Wesleyan Drive, died Oct. 12, 2002, in Norfolk. Mrs. Schloss was born in Bad Mergentheim, Germany, in 1917 to the late Heinrich and Carolina Eckmann. She emigrated to the United States in 1936 and in 1938 married Bert Schloss of Edelfingen, Germany. They settled in Norfolk. She was a member of Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk and a member of its sisterhood. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of Beth Sholom Home of Eastern Virginia and Hebrew Ladies Charity.
Mrs. Schloss was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Schloss in 1971, and a daughter Ann Schloss Pettey in 1995. Survivors include her daughter, Hannah S. Winston of Philadelphia, Pa., and grandson, Brad Goldfarb of New York City.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk by Rabbi Michael Joseph and Cantor Jennifer Bern-Vogel. After the graveside services the family will receive friends in the Snyder Lounge of Ohef Sholom Temple.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Beth Sholom Home of Eastern Virginia or to Ohef Sholom Temple.
