Elizabeth was the daughter of Rev. Richard and Catherine Morris. Her parents were born in Wales.



Death Calls Mrs. F. J. McCarty

Mrs. Elizabeth McCarty, widow of F. J. McCarty, and one of West Lafayette's best known residents, died Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. G. Yeager, 233 Stadium Avenue, West Lafayette. Mrs. McCarty fell three years ago and fractured a hip, since which time she had been in poor health.
Mrs. McCarty was born Jan. 25, 1845 in New York state, near Buffalo, and was the daughter of Rev. Richard and Catherine Morris. On June 18, 1864, she was united in marriage to F. J. McCarty. After their marriage they lived in the McCarty homestead on McCarty Lane, east of Lafayette, for 31 years, after which they moved to West Lafayette, where they resided for 35 years.
Mrs. McCarty was a member of the West Lafayette M. E. Church and the Chrysolite union of the W. C. T. U. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Yeager; a son, W. R. McCarty, of McCarty's Lane; two grandsons, Morris and Joseph McCarty, and a great-grandson, Jordan McCarty. One sister, Mrs. Margaret Bennett, of Meade, Kans., also survives.
Funeral services will be held at 23:30 p.m. Wednesday at the residence, Rev. M. C. Hunt, of the West Lafayette M. E. Church, officiating. Interment n Grand View Cemetery.
