Esther L. Flemming
Services for Esther L. Flemming, 90, of rural Janesville, who died Monday evening, April 10, 1989, at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato, were 2 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freedom Township, Waseca County, the Rev. R. E. Langhorst officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday and continued 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday at the Arnoldt Funeral Home in Janesville and one hour before services at the church.
Pallbearers were Loren Flemming, Michael Flemming, Dale Flemming, Russell Anderson, Dean Schoenfeld and Guy Westphal.
Mrs. Flemming was born in Vivian Township, Waseca County, Nov. 12, 1898, to Fredrick and Anna (Jeddelo9h) Stiernagle. She attended country school in Vivian Township, and married Arthur C. Flemming, Jan. 22, 1919, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freedom Township. In 1920 they began farming in McPherson Township, Blue Earth County. She was living on that same farm with her son, Lyle, at the time of her death.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Clarence Youngerberg, and three sons, Lester and his wife, Lorene, Lyle, and Alvin and his wife, Adeline, all of rural Janesville; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Ethel Stiernagle of Waseca and Marie Stiernagle of New Richland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dec. 13, 1974; and infant son, Albert; four brothers, and two sisters.
