Mr. Hoelzer was born Dec. 23, 1906 in Lee County, the son of John and Christina Zimmerman Hoelzer. He married the former Hilda Winters Feb. 14, 1929. She preceded him in death march 12, 1978.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Surviving are 2 sons; Maynard, Compton; and Dennis, Woodland Park, Co; 2 daughters; Mrs. Roland (Violet) Williams, Chana; and Marian Neal, Compton; 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold, Paw Paw, and 3 sisters; Ella Bittner, Paw Paw; Anna Politsch, Mendota, and Laura Pohl, Compton.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Feb. 7 in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. The Rev. John Place of Faith Lutheran Church officiated and burial was in Restland Cemetery, Mendota.
A memorial has been established to Faith Lutheran Church, Rochelle.
