BENJAMIN GEYER
PIONEER OF BEND
OF RIVER EXPIRES.
Last Rites Held at Family Home
Tuesday and Interment Made in
Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Last rites for Benjamin Geyer,
pioneer farmer of the Bend of the
River section, were held at 2 p. m.
Tuesday at the farm home, with Rev.
H. W. Staver preaching the funeral
sermon, and interment was made in
Oak Ridge cemetery. The pallbearers
were Fred Tichenor, Charles Tichenor,
Burton Weaver, Andrew Lyddick, William
Stout of Niles, Edward Roper of South
Bend [IN]. Death was the result of
a paralytic stroke suffered six
weeks ago.
He was born at North Liberty, Ind.
May 25, 1861, being 71 years,
11 months, and 11 days of age when
he died. He came to the "Bend of the
River" when a boy, and had resided
there since. With him on the farm
during the past two years was his son,
Ebern Geyer, by his first marriage,
who survives him. His first wife
[Rhoda] died shortly after the birth
of this son, and he was married again
to Mary Elizabeth McNally, who died
July 7, 1932.
A grandson, Robert Geyer,
lives at the home of Mrs. Ida Rice.
In addition to the son mentioned
above, he is survived by the following:
a brother, the Rev. Carson Geyer of
Cleveland, O.; three sisters, Mrs.
Nora Reamer, South Bend, [IN], Mrs.
Mary Leach and Mrs. Belle Cowgill
of California.
