He was a sheet metal worker at General Electric Co., retiring in 1970 after more than 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was assigned duty throughout the European and African theaters. He received the Silver Star. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and enjoyed attending flea markets.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marge Evans.
Survivors include his wife, Carmella Mobilia Hake; two sons, Charles E. Hake and his wife, Carol, and Joseph Hake, all of Erie; two daughters, Nancy Hersch and her husband, Daryl, and Mary Jo Fassett and her husband, Sheridan, all of Erie; a brother, Donald Hake of Erie; a sister, Ruth Bednarski of Erie; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial, with military honors, at Mary, Queen of Peace Cemetery.
