Jennie McGraw Fiske was the daughter of John McGraw, millionaire philanthropist to Cornell University. In 1868, she gave the university of chimes which play the "Cornell Changes", also known as the "Jennie McGraw Rag". The continue to be played every day from McGraw Tower on the campus. Upon her death, she left a significant bequest to the university. She was also the founder of the Southworth Library in Dryden, New York. She was married to Cornell University professor and librarian Willard Fiske in 1880.

Miss Jennie McGraw, daughter of the late Hon. John McGraw, of Ithaca, was married to Professor Willard Fiske, of Cornell university. The ceremony occurred at the residence of A. D. White, president of Cornell and minister to Berlin. The bride is worth four or five millions and is erecting a large and costly mansion at Ithaca.
