Heinz Hamacher was a Luftwaffe pilot on the western front during World War II. He flew bombing missions in Ju-88s during the Battle of Britain, and afterward he flew night fighters. He had two unconfirmed kills. In the closing months of the war, he shot down one B24 (confirmed) while flying a Focke Wulf FW190.

Postwar, he worked for Siemens as an Electrical Engineer. In 1955 he moved with his family to Venezuela and later Brazil. In the 1960s he worked for ITT until suffereing a stroke attributed to head wounds he had received during a crash landing in 1945. In the early 1970s he moved to New York, where he died in 1972.
