Gladys Gerhardt-Mumey, 63, Centennial, Colo., formally of Mandan, succumbed to cancer April 17, 2005, at her home. A rosary service is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Perry Funeral Home with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at Mandan Union Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan.
Gladys was born in rural Morton County March 27, 1942, to Valentine and Beatrice Gerhardt. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul Elementary School, graduated from Mandan High School in 1960, and Dickinson State University. She served as an elementary teacher. On June 3, 1963, Gladys was united in marriage to Jim Mumey and they have resided in the Denver area for the past 34 years. After teaching, she was involved with volunteer work, active in her church and politics, and involved with various small family businesses. Gladys was always known as the consummate host and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Gladys was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, outdoor activities, and travel.
Gladys is survived by her husband, Jim; three children and their spouses, Chuck (Anne), Virginia, Bridget (Bob) Sargent, Colorado, and Chad (Jessica), Texas; five grandchildren; her mother, Beatrice, Mandan, two sisters and six brothers, Rose (Gene) Erhardt, Mandan, Dee (Harvey) Miller, Mandan, Jim (Vicky), Raleigh, Bill (Ellen), Flasher, Ken (Alice), Mandan, Leonard (Delores), Flasher, Larry (Gloria), Flasher, and Bob (Loretta) Mulvane, Kansas.
