George Gies
George Gies, a resident of Fort Morgan since 1923, died in the Fort Morgan hospital Thursday after a two week illness. He was 85.
Born Jul 24, 1881, in Walter, Russia, Gies came to America in 1906 to Greeley and moved to Fort Morgan in 1923. He was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Church.
He is survived by his wife, Katie of Fort Morgan; three daughters, Mrs. Elvina Flot of Greeley, Mrs. Elnora Kissler of Newark, Calif., and Mrs. Juanita Fabriscus of Worland, Wyo.; six sons, Henry and Adam Gies of Fort Morgan, Walter Gies of Alliance, Neb., and Daniel, Harold and Carl Barthlama, all of Fort Morgan; 27 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Cutler-Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Edwin Dahmer officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
