Violet Lotz, passed away Monday morning, August 1, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. Violet was born May 15, 1931 in Annville, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Harry U.L. and Mabel Leah (Snyder) Horst. She had been a Kalamazoo area resident for 43 years and was employed as an accountant with the Portage Public Schools for 28 years, retiring in 1996. On December 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to John F. Lotz, Jr., who survives. Also surviving, four sons, David A. (Sherry) Lotz of Tucson, AZ, Jan A. (Shari) Lotz and John F. Lotz III, all of Portage, and Edward D. Lotz of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Kelly Ann Bambrough of Phoenix, AZ, Jason D. Lotz of Hudson, OH, Steven William Lotz of Battle Creek, and Alicia Marie Dunn of Parchment; and nine great grandchildren; a brother, David Horst of Camp Hill, PA; a sister, Miriam Lake of Annville, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by four brothers Urias, Uriah, Edward and Ralph and three sisters Lovia, Emma and Kathryn Eisenhour Gillette.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m., Friday, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Private burial will take place in Mt. Annville Cemetery, Annville, PA, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes, or the Salvation Army.
