BATTENBERG Virgil Battenberg, age 92, passed away on August 12, 2011. Predeceased by daughter Carolyn Lensch and brothers Homer and Lowell. Survived by loving wife of 71 years, Evelyn; son, Thomas and wife, Helen Liebman; grand-children, Erik and wife, Melinda, Kurt and wife, Kimberly, Tammie Hall and husband, Darryl, Brian Lensch and Robynette Joos; great- grandchildren, Darin and Clara Hall and Devin Lensch; son-in-law, Thomas Lensch, Marsha Lensch; nieces, nephews and many good friends. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, the Dayton Music Club, Centerville Lions Club, Millennium Masonic Lodge, and Professional Society of Engineers. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, employed as a mechanical engineer at Aeroproducts and Wright Patterson AFB, from which he retired in 1981. He was the treasurer of the Dayton Music Club, the Miami Valley Community Concert Association, and the Centerville Lions Club and a volunteer at the Wright B Flyer Hanger in Dayton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the HomeReach Hospice (www.ohiohealth.com/foundation-homereach), Columbus Symphony (www.columbussymphony.com), or ProMusica Chamber Orchestra (www.promusicacolumbus.org). A memorial service will be held at Wesley Glen Retirement Center, 5155 N. High Street on Friday, August 19 at 4 p.m.
