Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she worked for more than 20 years as an instructional teacher's aide in the Darien Public School System. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a faithful sister and friend to many. She had lived in Williamsburg since November 2010.
She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Anthony Gibson; two sons, Stephen Gibson and wife, Karen, and Jonathan Gibson and wife, Carrie; grandchildren, Dylan and Tucker, as well as a granddaughter to be born in September, Chloe Irene; brother, Kenneth Duerr and wife, Jean; two sisters, Marjorie Nixon and husband, Wesley, and Audrey Jester and husband, Roy; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Duerr; her father, Clarence Duerr; her brother, Clarence Duerr Jr.; and her nephew, Douglas Duerr.
The family received friends on Thursday, July 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Nelsen Funeral Home. A service was held on Friday, July 22, at 1 p.m. at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, with interment following in Williamsburg Memorial Park.
