Charles Zadravec, 85, of Homer City, formerly of Clarksburg and Indiana, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at the home that he made with his son, Chuck. A son of Matt and Meri Prosnick Zadravec, he was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Iselin. Mr. Zadravec was a coal miner for R&P Coal Co. and he also owned and operated Zadravec Mine. He was a member of the UMWA Local 1412 and the VFW Post 1989. Mr. Zadravec was an avid hunter and fisherman and had been an active fox hunter with his prize dog, Jeanny; he was also actively involved as a baseball player in the old Indiana County League. Charles served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II as a sergeant. He is survived by two children, Charles “Chuck” Robert Zadravec and wife Lisa, of Homer City, and Mary Stivala and companion Ed Blauvelt, of Shelton, Conn.; four grandchildren, Matt and Zack Taddei, Olive Stivala and Charles Zadravec; three step-grandchildren, Tammy Kolesar, Richard Kolesar and wife Heather, all of Ohio, April Foreman and husband Marty, of Homer City; five stepgreat-grandchildren, Taylor Kolesar, Marty and Avery Foreman, of Homer City, Tyler and Nevaeh Kolesar, of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Zadravec, on Dec. 25, 2004; a son, Vincent Matthew Zadravec; two brothers, Anthony and Frank Zadravec; four sisters, Julia Bedich, Louise Renwick, Isabelle Means and Anna Novalis; and a special son-in-law, Dr. Richard Stivala.
