Otto C. Marten, 74, a Howards Grove farmer, died late Friday morning at St. Nicholas Hospital following a short illness. A son of the late Henry and Henrietta Marten, he was born Nov. 7, 1881, in the Town of Herman, and attended rural schools in the township. As a young man, Mr. Marten moved to South Dakota where he was engaged in farming for 11 years. For the past 30 years he operated a farm on the west outskirts of Howards Grove. He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church in the Town of Herman.
Only immediate survivor is a sister, Emilie, with whom he resided. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church in the town of Herman. The Rev. Stanley Heusemar, pastor, will officiate.
