Louis Bernard Fehringer, longtime resident of Silver Lakes, Calif., died June 22, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Victorville, Calif. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Gehrig-Stitt Chapel. Vigil Services will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Peetz. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 30, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow and Deacon Ronald Michieli officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery near the family farm. Mr. Fehringer was born Jan. 21, 1921, in Peetz to John and Clara (Whamoff) Fehringer. He served in the U.S Navy during World War II from August 1942 until January 1946. He married Sophia Olga Owak on June 8, 1946. They settled in Sidney, Neb.
Mr. Fehringer worked for AT&T for more than 30 years. The family lived in Cheyenne, Wyo., and Belmont, Calif.

Mr. Fehringer is survived by Sophia, his wife of 65 years; children, Bonita Fehringer of Phoenix, Ariz., Robert Fehringer and wife Colette of Camino, Calif., and Margaret Thiele and husband Richard of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three grandchildren, Chelsea, Sarah, and Benjamin; siblings, Dorothy "Dot" Treinen of Sidney, Catherine Zach of Salem, Ore., George Fehringer of Gering, Neb., Sister Clara Fehringer, O.S.U. of Lexington, Ky., and John Fehringer of Loveland; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Esther, Jerome, Irwin, Mary Ann, Philomena, Margaret, and Clement.
