EAU GALLE, Wis. — Gerald H. Baier, age 74, of Eau Galle died on July 3, 2003, at his home.

Jerry was born on April 28, 1929, the son of Henry and Ida (Bauer) Baier. He was born, raised and lived his entire life in the town of Eau Galle, Dunn County. He attended Eau Galle and Durand schools. Jerry married Carol Unser October 16, 1951, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. After marriage they farmed on the home farm. He started a feed business on the farm 30 years ago. In 1985, Jerry received the Outstanding Business Award from the Pepin County Farm Management Club. He also received the FFA Farm Businessman Award. He was the town chairman for the town of Eau Galle for the past ten years.

Jerry was an avid snowmobiler and was the Trail Boss for the Eau Galle Snowmobile Club. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time at his camper in Trego.

He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol; four daughters, Patti Baier of Wilson, Kathy (Greg) Prissel of Durand, Cheryl (Bob) Traun of Nelson and Theresa (Bruce) Keenlyne of Elmwood; four sons, Mike (Pam), Bob (Marion), Dave (Debbie) and Ted (Sue), all of Eau Galle; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Schober of Menomonie and JoAnn Fagerland of Ellsworth.

His parents, an infant son Danny and his stepfather Albert Fedie, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2003, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle with Rev. Jerry Hoeser officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand.

Casketbearers will be grandchildren; honorary casketbearers will be the Eau Galle Town Board Members.
