Born Matej Nemec (also spelled Nemitz), Michael Nemec arrived in America in the early 1870s and married Maria Vitak at Old St. Wenceslaus Church in Cleveland, OH, on 6 July 1875. Their son John was born in 1876, and their daughter Anna in 1884. Among other jobs, Michael worked for the F.H. Hill Co. in Cleveland. Michael and his family lived on Gibb St. and later on Gamma Avenue in Cleveland. Michael was buried at Calvary Cemetery on 26 February 1936.
