My Ham Radio Friend Fritz-Henning(Nickname Fritz)KARCHER was born November 11th.1911 in GERMANY.
During WW2 He served as Kapitän-Leutnant(Captain-Lieutenant)in the GERMAN NAVY.
Fritz was Division Chief at the Fernmeldeschule(The Navy School of Communications)in MÜRWIK in GERMANY.
After the War Fritz obtained for a Ham Radio Licence and became the Official Callsign DL4VTA.
He was member #188 of the "MF RUNDE",a GERMAN Society of Hamming,former Navy Wireless Operators.
Many of Fritz former Navy Students are also Radio Amateur and member of this Society.
Fritz was a real GENTLEMAN and loved by His Comrades who miss Him now very much !
I had the Honor to meet Fritz many times on the yearly Society meeting somewhere in Germany.
Fritz died,90 years old,on January 27th.2001 in His Hometown BECKINGEN in GERMANY.
Fritz is buried on the Cementery in BECKINGEN.
Many Radio Friends are very sad that Fritz is now a so called"Silent Key", thats what Hams say when one of them dies.
