Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Grace served as a Sergeant, Company G, 83d Pennsylvania Infantry, United States Army. He was awarded his medal for service at Wilderness, Virginia, on May 5, 1864, during the Civil War. His citation reads-Single-handed, rescued a comrade from 2 Confederate guards, knocking down one and compelling surrender of the other.
