Lydia Ohlund, 93, of La Crosse died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at St. Josephs Rehab Center. Lydia was born in Scottsbluff, Neb, Jan. 13, 1917, to George and Dorothea (Groh) Haun. She married Norman Ohlund and together they moved their family to Estherville, Iowa, in 1947. Norman preceded Lydia in death in 1988. Lydia was an accomplished pianist and was very active musically in Estherville for many years. She was a long-time member of Estherville United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter in Estherville. After moving to La Crosse in 2000 to be closer to her family, she attended First Congregational Church. Lydia is survived by two daughters, Normanda (Jim) Reed of Port Washington, Wis, and Nanette (Jerry) Kember of La Crosse; four grandchildren, Tim (Stacie) Reed of Port Washington, and Jamie, Kelsey and Jessie Kember, all of Madison; one great-grand daughter, Isabel Reed; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Lydia was preceded in death by an infant son, George Thomas; and four sisters, Elizabeth Meininger, Molly Meisner, Alice Kuxhaus and Emilie Meisner. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave. S, La Crosse. Rev. Bill Hoglund will officiate. Burial will take place in Eastside Cemetery in Estherville at a later date. (MC)
