Services Held for Mrs. Sirek at Lonsdale Thursday
Was Resident of New Prague and Veseli Sixty Five Years-Ill a Month Mrs. Catherine Machacek Sirek, brief mention of whose death was made last week, was laid to rest in Calvary cemetery at Lonsdale September 17th. Funeral services were conducted at the Immaculate Conception church at Lonsdale, Rev. J. J. Tomek officiating. The pallbearers were Francis Sirek, Herbert Voracek, Emanual Zeman, Tom Jasan, William Turek and George Tupa. Deceased was ill about a month of diabetes and influenza, and was cared for at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Matyas of New Prague. She received the kindly ministrations of loving hands and medical skill but could not rally and passed away at nine oclock Monday evening September 14. She was born in Czechoslovakia in 1864, and when a year and a half old, came with her parents to America, settling first at New Prague and later moving to Veseli. She was married to Michael Sirek at Veseli and they took up their home on a farm in the Veseli community. Mr. Sirek died eighteen years ago. Among the bereaved are the children, Mrs. John Voracek of St. Paul, Mrs. Frank Hrabe and Mrs. Leon Smisek of Veseli; Mrs. John Tupa and George Sirek; Webster; Mike Sirek of Lonsdale; Mrs. Peter Cihlar of St. Patrick and Mrs. George Matyas of New Prague. One child died in infancy. Mrs. Anna Machachek, mother of deceased, is also among the bereaved. Brothers and sisters are: Michael Machacek of Northfield; James Machacek and Mrs. John Zeman of Veseli; and Frank and Joseph Machacek of Lonsdale. Mrs. Sirek was a lovable lady and possessed the fine traits of character that endeared her to relatives, neighbors and acquaintances alike. She will be sadly missed in the family circle and among her many friends.
