NOTE: The following records were extracted by the late Chester Walkup of the Old Santa Teresa Cemetery. This cemetery is located next to the Santa Catarina Cemetery off Boyd drive in the City of Carlsbad. The Municipal, Santa Catarina and Old Santa Teresa Cemeteries are all next to each other. The obits read as buried in Santa Catarina but were actually buried in Old Santa Teresa Cemetery, which was probably first known as San Jose Cemetery.

FAUSTINO NAVARRO

Faustino Acosta Navarro, 65, 206 W. Church, was pronounced dead on arrival Monday at a local hospital. A retired miner he had lived in Carlsbad 55 years.

Prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. tonite in Denton Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gethsemani Baptist Church with Rev. Fernanda Martinez officiating. Burial will be in Santa Catarina Cemetery.

Born July 30, 1905 in Jaralito, Durango, Mexico, he moved to Carlsbad from Redford, Tex.

He married Josefino Fierro in Carlsbad Aug. 12, 1953. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

Surviving in addition to his widow are a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Elizabeth) Fierro, Aurora Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Matilda Martinez and Frank Hernandez both of Carlsbad and two grandchildren.
