Virginia was born April 3, 1927, to Otto and Johanna (Boeckmann) Schultejans at Marysville. She graduated from Marysville High School and attended business school in Kansas City and Cincinnati, OH. Virginia was united in marriage to Robert Dean Swanson on November 25, 1948. They had three children, David, Martin, Deborah.
Virginia worked for Grosshans & Petersons as an office manager, and worked at KPL, JTPA, Ott's Electric, Hardee's and Pony Express Auto. She was a member of the Moose Club, VFW, American Legion Auxiliary, and Red Hat Society.
In her spare time she enjoyed doing health research, playing cards, doing yard work, and garage sales. She helped co-found the Marysville German Fest.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert in 1978; brothers, Clarence and Wilbur; and a grandson, Shawn.
Surviving her are sons, David Swanson of Hiawatha, Martin Swanson of Savannah, Georgia; a daughter, Deborah Gose, Winfield.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Friday, November 4, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church.
Visitation is Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
A rosary service will at 7 p.m., Thursday, at the church.
Burial will be in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery.
