Emrich and his wife Julie left Hungary and went to the United States in 1903. They came to Alberta in 1905 to homestead. They had three sons, Joseph, Frank and Luis in Alberta. Early in 1913 Julie died. In December 1913 he married Franziska Kiss and they had a son Amos.
