From the Baltimore Sun, October 15, 1886:

"The Late Mrs. MacTavish

Mrs. Sarah Gilmor Mactavish, who died on Wednesday at her home on Maryland avenue, was the second daughter of Charles S. Gilmor, deceased, and Elizabeth Lloyd Tilghman. She was the wife of Francis O. MacTavish, Esq., the grandson of the late John MacTavish, formerly the British consul at this port. Mrs. MacTavish left four very young children, of whom the youngest are twins, born within the last six weeks. She never rallied from this illness, and was a most patient sufferer. Of a sweet and refined nature and of rare beauty, she was most attractive in the circle of society in which she moved, and her loss will be much felt by the many friends who survive her. The funeral will take place from St. Michael's (Dr Kirkus's) this afternoon."

Married Francis Osborne MacTavish on November 21, 1878. Sarah died of childbirth complications.

Children:
1. Elizabeth Tilghman MacTavish, born 1879, died young
2. Anita Carroll MacTavish (1883-1914).
3, Richard Caton MacTavish (1884-1930).
4-5. Francis and John (twins), born October 10, 1886, died young.
