Al Kotz was born at Presho, SD to Henry and Kathryn Kappenman Kotz. He attended rural school south of Presho, where he lived and farmed for over 50 years.
On October 31, 1938 he married Mable Knudtson at Vivian. To this union seven children were born.
After leaving the farm, Al moved to Davenport, IA, later moving to Prophetstown, IL and retiring at Sterling, Il.
He is survived by five son; Austin, Gerald, Paul, Steven and Jim; one daughter Mary; one brother Joseph; four sisters Cecelia, Margaret, Agnes and Frances; 19 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, one son and one granddaughter.
