Michael Keller was born May 23rd, 1823 [1822 per stone] in Baden, Germany. He lived there until in his 23rd year when he left home and friends and came to this country and settled in Virginia and was followed 2 years later by his father and family, all of whom have preceded him except his brother, Fredrick, and step mother.
They settled in Clay township, this county.
He was married to Margaret Sheets in 1850. To them were born 5 children, all of whom are living except his son, Will. He leaves 20 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
He bought and moved to his farm near here in 1865 and was always found a good citizen, a kind neighbor and a faithful friend.
As his health would not permit him to care for the farm, he moved to Mooresville last spring and was enjoying the rest of town after many years of incessant labor, when sickness came and after about 4 weeks of suffering he died July 23rd.
He leaves an afflicted companion and many relatives and friends to mourn their loss. He was a faithful member of the M.E. church.
