Betty Jean (Moritz) Glathar, 88, of rural Dawson, Nebraska, was born on July 28, 1923, in rural Humboldt, Nebraska to Paul and Louise (Gossman) Moritz. Betty grew up on the family farm and attended country school in Richardson County. In 1941, she was honored by being Queen of the Richardson County Fair. On August 17, 1943, Betty was united in marriage to Lou Glathar by Rev. Ward Merritt in Humboldt, Nebraska. To this union, three children; Sharon, Dwaine, and Terry were born. Betty raised her family and helped with all aspects of their farming operation. She was an avid gardener that canned or froze food from the garden. Betty seemed to always have plenty of food in the refrigerator to feed anyone who happens to stop by. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother that always enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren participate in school activities. She was especially proud to see two of her granddaughters (Sara and Allison) follow in her footsteps by being awarded Queen of the Richardson County Fair. Betty was a long time member of the Bethel Untied Methodist Church in Dawson, Nebraska. Betty died at the Bryan LGH Medical Center East in Lincoln, Nebraska on Sunday, November 6, 2011, having reached the age of eighty-eight years, three months, and nine days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Sharon Workman, and a brother Wayne Moritz.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of sixty-eight years Lou Glathar of rural Dawson, NE; sons: Dwaine (Cathie) Glathar of Fremont, NE; Terry (Carolyn) Glathar of Dawson, NE; son-in-law Jim Workman of Beatrice, NE; grandchildren: Teresa (Jim) Matthews of Lincoln, NE; Scott Workman and Sonja of DeWitt, NE; Jason (Dana) Workman; Dr. Matthew (Lisa) Glathar of Lincoln, NE; Sara (Eric) Martin of Omaha, NE; Courtney (Travis) Thompson of Elkhorn, NE; Kris (Allison) Glathar of Falls City, NE; Allison Glathar of Beatrice, NE; sisters: Dorothy Arnold of Auburn, NE; Nadine (Sterling) Lampe of Falls City, NE; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Jaclyn Hoy officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at the Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment will be at the Heim Cemetery in Dawson, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to family's choice.
