He passed away in Kansas City, MO.
Cause of death was diabetic gangrene with septicemia.
He was returned to Carthage and buried in Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri in the Block family lot under the direction of Carroll Davidson Undertaking Company.

FORMER CARTHAGE GROCER SUCCUMBS AT 62

Body Will Be Brought to Carthage, Burial Being in Park Cemetery Sunday Afternoon


Alex Block, well known former Carthage citizen who for many years was engaged in the grocery business here, died this morning in a hospital in Kansas City where he recently underwent an operation for amputation of a foot.
Mr. Block, who was about 62 years old, left Carthage 13 years ago, going to Kansas City. for a long period of years he was engaged in the grocery business here as a member of the firm of Block & Brother, the firm for many years being one of the leading concerns in Carthage.
A brother, Sigmund Block, died here in 1916 and the two families moved to Kansas City shortly afterward.
Surviving Mr. Block are Mrs. Block, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sigmund Block, who also is a sister of Mrs. Alex Block; one son, Gerald Block, a nephew, Louis Block, of Kansas City, a half-brother, Simon Block of New York City and relatives in Germany. Mr. Block was a native of Germany.
Mrs. Alex Block and Mrs. Sigmund Block both are ill in Kansas City hospitals at the present time and will be unable to attend the funeral.
The body of Mr. Block will be brought to Carthage by motor Sunday and funeral services will be held at the grave in Park Cemetery here at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, suspension of the cemetery rule against Sunday funerals being permitted because of the special circumstances in the case.
Mr. Block was a member of the Elks lodge here. (bio provided by NJBrewer)
