George B. Rubin, 27, Polio Victim

George Bennett Rubin, 27, of 417B Airfield, died at a local hospital yesterday afternoon of Poliomyelitis. He had been admitted to the hospital about week ago.

His death brought to 22 the number of polio deaths in the hospitals here since July 3 and the 10th death among Sioux Falls residents.

The young man was a lifelong resident of Minnehaha county. He was born in the vicinity of Ellis on November 16, 1921, and moved with his parents to Sioux Falls in 1939. He was graduated from Washington High School. He married Jean Yvonne Engelson on August 12, 1942, at Luverne. He later served in the war with the Army Air Forces for three years, mostly as an air gunnery instructor. Since his discharge, he had been employed as a radio mechanic with the United Radio service here.

In addition to his widow; he is survived by two sons, Michael B., 5; and Terry G., 2; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gust R. Rubin of 1235 North Main Ave., a brother, Clarence Rubin, Sioux Falls; and two sisters, Mrs. Roy Canfield, Sioux Falls, and Fern Rubin, who at present is in the polio ward at Sioux Valley Hospital.

Services for Mr. Rubin will be held at the Miller Funeral home at 2 p. m. Monday. The Rev. Harry R. Gregerson will officiate at the
services.

Services for George Bennett Rubin, 27, of 417B, airfield, were held today at 2 p. m. from the Miller Funeral home. The Rev. Harry R. Gergerson officiated with Mrs. C. B. Van Ausdall as organist. Burial was in the Hills of Rest Memorial park with Leo Rathman, Louis Warren, Irvin Warren, Raymond Hyde, Joe Stout and John Hanson as pallbearers.
