Helen Marie Peters, age 84, of El Campo, passed away on Feb. 10, 2011. She was born on May 6, 1926, at home near Mustang Creek in Wharton County, to the late Emil and Anna Pavlicek Cerny.

She is survived by her daughters, Helen Russek and husband James of Pearland, Connie Surovik and husband Fred of Caldwell, Frances Harvey and husband Tim of Blessing; sons, Joe Peters Jr. of Red Rock, Louis Peters and wife Virginia of Hillje; sisters, Leona Coxwell and husband Frank of Sheridan, Marcella Gajewsky of El Campo; brother, Sylvester Cerny and wife Joan of El Campo; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe Peters Sr.; brothers, Jim, Raymond, Leonard, and Victor Cerny.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday with a parish rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at St. Philip's Catholic Church with the Rev. Albert Yankey officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Hungerford.

Pallbearers are Jeffrey Russek, Christopher Russek, Michael Surovik, David Surovik, Lee Harvey and Dywane Williams.

Memorial donations in memory of Helen Peters may be made to the American Cancer Society or Accolade Hospice, 222 West Grand Ave., Yoakum, Texas 77995.
