Victor Louis Cerny, 81, of Wharton, passed away on Nov. 20, 2010. He was born on April 26, 1929 in Crescent to Emil and Annie Pavlicek Cerny. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Victor owned and operated Milam Barbershop from 1964 to 1994. He continued to work part time at the barbershop until December 2009. He loved to hunt, fish and tell jokes.

He is survived by his son, Robert Cerny and wife Christine of Wharton; grandchildren, Kyle Anders and wife Tonya of Wharton and Layne Anders of Wharton; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Peters of Hillje, Marcella Gajewsky of El Campo and Leona Coxwell and husband Frank of Rock Island; brother, Sylvester Cerny and wife Joan of El Campo; sister-in-law, Irene Cerny of El Campo and numerous nieces and nephews.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Supak Cerny and brothers, Jim, Raymond,and Leonard Cerny.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22 at Triska Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 with services to follow at 10 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with the Revs. Gary Janak and Dominic Antwi-Boasiako officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Tim Cerny, Eric Cerny, Glen Cerny, Patrick Cerny, Steve Pavlicek, David Gajewsky, Gary Gajewsky and Richard Zahn. Honorary pallbearers are his nieces, nephews and godchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund or St. Philip Catholic Church
