Funeral services celebrating the life of Johanna M. Rodenwald, age 98 of Albany, will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 15 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Avon (due to the remodeling of the Seven Dolors Church in Albany). Burial will be in the Seven Dolors Parish Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-9:00 PM Wednesday at the Miller-Carlin-Brenny Funeral Home in Albany and again after 10:00 AM Thursday at the church in Avon. Seven Dolors Parish Prayers will be at 4:30 PM on Wednesday and the Seven Dolors Christian Mothers and the St. Anns Society will pray at 7:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home in Albany.
Johanna was born June 11, 1910 in Melrose to Bernard and Magdalena (Koch) Renneker. She has been a lifetime resident of this area. She married Alfred Rodenwald on November 27, 1937 in Melrose. The couple farmed together for many years. Johanna was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Albany, the Seven Dolors Christian Mothers and the St. Ann's Society. She did volunteer work at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany and the Mother Seton Store in Albany. She also made many quilts and crocheted many beautiful pieces over the years.
Johanna is survived by her children; Albert (Diane) Rodenwald, Albany; Yvonne (Dennis) Von Brauchitsch, Sacramento, CA; Sharon (Kenneth) Schmitt, Avon; Marlys (Richard) Backes, Avon; Floyd (Joyce) Rodenwald, Albany; and Linda (Bruce) Maples, Cedar, MN. She is also survived by her brother, Norbert (Adelle) Renneker of Freeport and her sister, Betty Rodenwald of Albany. 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 10, 1994, her brothers and sisters; Ben Renneker, John Renneker, Joseph Renneker, Francis Stueve, Mary Wievel and Agnes Neumann, and one great-grandchild, Lucus.
