MARTIN APPLEHANS FLU VICTIM
Died Thursday of Last Week and Was Buried Saturday
The dread disease influenza has entered our midst and taken its toll in the death of Martin Applehans, who succumbed to the influenza-pneumonia last Thursday afternoon.

Martin was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Applehans of this city where they have lived for the past several years. He was associated with his father in the harness shop and was a good repairman and becoming proficient at the trade. Martin was a member of the local company of State Guard troops and the company assembled in front of the house and accompanied the body to the church where the funeral services were conducted by the Rev. V.J. Smith. After the services at the church the guard company headed the procession to the Catholic cemetery where burial services were conducted at the grave, and the body laid to rest.

Martin Applehans was aged 27 years, 7 months and 4 days at the time of his death. He leaves who to mourn his loss a father, mother, five brothers and 5 sisters and a host of other relitives [sic] and friends. His brother John who was in wamp ]sic] at Funston arrived Wednesday night in response to the telegram announcing the seriousness of his brother's illness.
