Mrs. Alma Hecht of Vassar, MI died early Friday morning, May 23, 2008 at the Lutheran Home of Frankenmuth, surrounded by her family. Age 93 years. She was born April 4, 1915 in Tuscola County, daughter of the late John and Matilda (Bierlein) Mayer Sr. On May 14, 1939 Alma was married to Ruben G. Hecht in Richville. He predeceased her March 16, 1982. Mrs. Hecht was a homemaker most of her life and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of the St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville and volunteered her time at the Bethesda Thrift Store in Saginaw. Her enjoyments were gardening, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her three children and their spouses; Dolores and Mark Culbert, Kenneth and Marcella Hecht, and Bonnie and Gary Rapson, her grandchildren and their spouses; Sherry and Randy Urbanczyk, Tracy and Michael Tappen, Jacob and Kristin Hecht, Kevin Hecht, Andrew Hecht and Jennifer Hecht and her great grandchildren; Logan Hecht, Cameron Tappen, Miranda Urbanczyk, Blake Urbanczyk and Malayna Tappen. Also surviving is her brother and her two sisters; John Mayer Jr. and his wife Lucy, and Edna Frank, and Erna Bierlein, and many special nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her great-granddaughter, Angelique Marie Tappen, June 21, 2006, and her sister Florence Hecht and her two brothers; Harold and Reinhold Mayer. Alma's family would like to express a special thank-you to the staff at both The Lutheran Home of Frankenmuth and Hospice of Hope for their care, their love and their concern for their mother during her final days.


~FUNERAL~
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008 from the St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville. Rev. Rob Gadeken and Rev. Wesley Gillaspie will both officiate with committal services to follow in the St. Michael's Cemetery.



~VISITATION
Alma's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 9940 Saginaw Street in Reese on Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
