Anthony (Tony) Harpenau, 72, of Remsen [IA], died Thursday (July 7,1983) at an Orange City [IA] hospital after a long illness.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church at Remsen. Rev. Leo Harpenau, of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church at Holstein [IA], a brother of Anthony, will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

The rosary will be said by the parish at 3 and 8 p.m., and by the combined Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Fisch Funeral Home.

Mr. Harpenau was born Jan. 14, 1911, at Le Mars [IA], to Frank and Bernadine Deters Harpenau. He married Loretta Warborg Jan. 30, 1934, at Remsen. They farmed in the Le Mars and Remsen areas, and in 1975 retired and moved into Remsen.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Catholic Order or Foresters, all of Remsen. He also was a member of the Oyens Columbus Club and a past member of the Plymouth County Zoning Board.

Survivors are his wife; three sons, Lloyd, Gerald and David, all of Remsen; two daughters, Mrs. Duane (Florine) Majeres of Remsen and Mrs. Steve (Ruth) Heath of Minneapolis; three brothers, Rev. Leo of Holstein, and Isidore and Al, both of Remsen; three sisters, Mrs. Tony (Mary) Kolbeck of Humboldt, S.D., and Mrs. Joe (Philomine) Schwarz and Mrs. Marvin (Rita) Kolbeck, both of Le Mars; and 26 grandchildren.
