Bernard Probst dies December 17
Bernard H. Probst, 80 of rural Wheeler, died at 11:50 a.m. Friday, December 17, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Probst was born November 30, 1919, in Jasper County, the son of Joseph and Theresia (Luchtefeld) Probst He married Florence M. Bloemer February 10, 1945. She survives.
He was a retired dairy farmer; a member of SL Joseph's Catholic Church, St Joseph's Men’s Sodality Effingham Knights of Columbus Council #665, Jasper County Farm Bureau and Illinois Holstein Association.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, William (wife, Janie), Donald (wife, Norma), Dale (wife, Linda),all of Wheeler; six daughters, Mrs. John (Jane) Moran of Trilla, Rosemary Westendorf of Neoga Mrs. Bernard (Marian) Willenborg of Vandalia, Mrs. Donald (Nancy) Mette of Bishop, Mrs. Tony (Janet) Hartrich of Ste. Marie, Mrs. Alan (Carla) Kistner of Jewett; brother, Joseph of Wheeler; sisters, Frieda Weishaar of Wheeler, Hilda Nieman and Marie Bloemer, both of Effingham; 46 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchiidren.
He was preceded in death by one son, three grandchildren, one greatgrandchild, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Island Grove. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Island Grove with a combined Knights of Columbus and Sodality rosary at 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. parish wake service.
