Marie was born on August 4th, 1927 in Island Grove, Illinois the daughter of Joseph and Theresia (Luchtefeld) Probst. She married Francis J.(Bud) Bloemer on August 27th, 1949.
Marie was an avid baker, with her specialties being cinnamon sweet rolls, homemade bread, and blackberry cobbler made with fresh blackberries picked from her pasture. She was a grain producer and dairy farmer who, along with her husband, Bud, spent every morning and evening milking the herd. In addition, she raised chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, and many other animals. She kept busy tending to her massive garden, canning fruits and vegetables, and cooking for large family dinners. She sewed beautiful quilts that she gave to her children, grandchildren, and to the St. Anthony church picnic. She loved to entertain everyone with her harmonica, dance, and go fishing in her pond. She often sang "She'll be coming around the mountain when she comes…" Her family will miss her dearly and pray that "she'll be riding six white horses" in heaven.
Marie enjoyed reciting the names of her children and, even in the late stages of Alzheimer's, she would have days when she remembered all fifteen of their names. She taught her children to have a strong work ethic and was proud of their accomplishments.
