Dies Tuesday Morning of Consumption after a Lingering Illness
The entire community was grieved Tuesday morning to hear of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Schumacher at her residence on that morning at 4:20 a. m. Though her death was not unexpected it was heard with much sadness by those who knew her. She came to Teutopolis from St. Louis about six months ago in very poor health and gradually grow worse until about a month ago when she took to her bed from which she never arose, dying Tuesday morning of consumption.
Elizabeth Wessel was born in Teutopolis on the 27th day of March 1873, and resided here until she grew to womanhood. She received her education in the schools at this place. When a young lady she went to St. Louis to reside and was married to Henry Schumacher there on February 1,1893. To this union two children were born. after the death of her husband, some seven months ago, she moved to Teutopolis to reside and made her home here until her death. She leaves to mourn their loss: Two sons, aged 5 and 1 years, a mother, two brothers, two sisters, and a number of other relatives and a large circle of friends.
The funeral services were held yesterday morning at the Catholic Church here. The remains were shipped to St. Louis on the noon train where the interment will take place today. It being her request to be buried beside her husband. The remains were accompanied to St. Louis by Anna Wessel, a sister, and Herman Schumacher, Edward Olszewski and her two sons, who will make their future home in St. Louis. In her death the community looses a good Christian woman. She had a large circle of friends, who loved her for her kindness.
