Funeral Here Thursday for Mrs.Vornsand
Funeral services for Mrs.Frieda Vornsand,83,widow of the late Ferd. Vornsand Sr.,will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon,January 23,at Weimar United Church of Christ,with the pastor,Rev.Frank H. Horak Jr.,officiating.
The body will lie in state at Hubbard Funeral Home until 12:30 p.m. and at the church from 1 p.m. until service time.
Mrs.Vornsand died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Colonial Rest Home,Schulenburg,after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug.23,1885,in Germany,she was a daughter of Frederich and Elisa Evers Schriefer.The family moved to America when she was four or five years old,settling at New Bielau,where she was confirmed as a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.Later they lived at Holman for several years and then in the Wildwood area.
After their marriage Dec.29,1903,the Vornsands settled at Holman for about two years,then moved to Wildwood,where they remained until 1957,when they retired from farming and moved to Weimar.Mr.Vornsand died Dec.26,1953.
Mrs.Vornsand was a charter member of the Women's Guild of Weimar United Church of Christ.
