Funeral services for Sylvan C. Oleson, 60, were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Max E. Goldman officiating. Mrs. Robert Goranson was the soloist. The organist was Mrs. Franklin Bienert. Serving as pallbearers were Ronald Oleson, Sherman Oleson, Valere Frank Oleson, Cecil Steffensen, Clyde Steffensen, and Devere Steffensen. Burial was made in Madison Cemetery. Olson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Oleson was born April 22, 1909 in Madison Township, the son of Frank and Emily (Durant) Oleson. Sylvan died 11 July 1960 in Forest City, Iowa. He was first married to Marie Isabelle Langerud. To this union was born a son, Clinton. On Sep 10, 1929, he was married to Wilna Beila Smith. To this union was born a daughter, Beverly, and two sons, Carroll and Darrell. Sylvan lived most of his life in or near Forest City, Iowa. In 1929 he opened a tire shop, and in 1934 founded the Sylvan C. Oleson Construction Company. He operated it until 1962. Sylvan was a member of the IOOF Lodge, past president of the Rainbow Trail Riders, and inspector for the Palomino Horse Breeders of America.
He is survived by his wife, Wilna; three children, 9 grandchildren, 3 brothers, Forrest, Verne, and Dwight, and one sister, Zilpha.
