Long may this Marble remain as a testimony of the most ~ sincere friendship and filial affection of ~ Adam Marshall ~ who caused to be erected ~ Sacred to the Memory of his Mother-in-law ~ Elizabeth Gregg ~ Wife of Captn. James Gregg, who departed this life ~ the 2nd of Aug 1799 ~ aged Fifty five years and 26 days ~ She was a kind and affectionate wife, atender Parent, ~ a humane and benevolent Mistress to thoseunder her care, ~ and a devout Christian; ~ And bore her last illness with the utmost fortitude, ~ in the well grounded and steadfast hope of its being an ~ end of all her sorrows and an ~ Introduction to eternal Felicity.
