James Gregg was the first child of immigrant John Gregg (~1720-1775) and his first wife, believed to be Jannet Baxter (~1725~1755). James was born about 1745 in Craven County, now Williamsburg County, SC.
James Gregg m. Elizabeth Wilson in 1770 and they had 9 children.

Sarah Gregg (~1774~1800) m. Alexander Jones and moved to Iredell Co, NC.
Burial site is unconfirmed. It would be expected that he would be buried beside wife at Hopewell, especially since she died first and he was an Edler of the Church. There is space but no indication there has been any marker. Also reported he was buried at his home.
