Joseph Lincoln Lanclos was the sixth of eight children born to Jean Baptiste Lanclos and Celina Marie Robin. He was a member of the US Army and served in a tour of Tokyo. Joseph Lincoln Lanclos was survived by his wife, Eva Mae Richard, and four daughters: Deborah Lanclos Vise, Pamela Lanclos Short, Tina Lanclos Ward, and Kathryn Lanclos Comte.

His paternal grandparents were Adolph Lanclos, Sr. & Marie Odelia Rivette and his maternal grandparents were Joseph Simon Robin & Marie Celina Lalonde.
