Norma B. Schulz was born at Canova, SD on Aug 8, 1908 to August and Elsa (Marten) Schulz. She grew up in the Canova area and attended country school there. She married John H. Bruhn at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Canova, on Sept 21, 1930. After her marriage she moved to Salem. She did laundry from her home for many years and worked at the Farmers Trading Post from 1944 to 1974. She later worked at Dakota House Cafe for several years and sold Avon products until 1988.
Her husband died Feb 1, 1982. In 1988 she moved to Sioux Falls. She lived there until becoming a resident of Colonial Manor Nursing Home in November of 1994. She passed away there on Jan 11, 1995. She had reached the age of 86 years, 5 months, and 3 days.
Survivors include six children: Dale Bruhn of Wichita, Kansas; Gerald of Sioux Falls; James of Jamesburg, NJ; Glennys Bumgardner of Fulton ,SD; Gary of Sioux Falls; Colleen Blumenberg of Costa Mesa, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; three brothers, Ardel Schulz of Sioux Falls; Ralph Schulz of Phoenix, Arizona; Elmer Schulz of Salem, SD; six sisters, Alice Kooistra of Salem; Velma Schulz of Sioux Falls; Viola Kenna of Sioux Falls; Marlys Strobel of Topeka, Kansas; Phyllis Lewis of Pensacola, Florida; and Merelda Drewicz of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John; one son, Richard; son-in-law, Jim Schoenfelder; one brother, Albert; and two sisters, Irene and Erna.
