John E. Peltomaa
A retired Diamond Shamrock Corp. employee, John E. Peltomaa, 80, of 98 Tulip Lane, Mentor, died Thursday in Lake County Memorial Hospital, Willoughby. He was in failing health for some time.
Born Dec. 15, 1896 in Fairport Harbor, Mr. Peltomaa was a four-year Mentor resident. He lived many years in Fairport.
He retired from Diamond Shamrock in 1961.
Mr. Peltomaa was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Fairport, and was a U.S. Army World War I Veteran.
Survivors include his widow, Elma E.; two sons, Raymond of Mentor and Roy of West Jefferson; two daughters, Mrs. George (Clarion) Naftanail of Mentor and Mrs. John (Marian) Merz of Miami, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; four brothers, Theodore of Cleveland, Martin of Fairport, Hilmer of Holiday Hills, Fla., and William of Leroy; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Peterson of Fairport, Mrs. Esther Murphy of Painesville, and Mrs. Aina Heiskkanen of Fairport.
Mr. Peltomaa was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Ida Peltomaa; two brothers, Swanters and Neal; and sister, Mrs. Aliina Lurvey.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at the Potti Funeral Home, 538 Fifth St., Fairport.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Potti Funeral Home with the Rev. Toivo V. Rosenberg of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Abiding Memorial Fund of the Zion Lutheran Church
