Henry Harsche was born Dec. 15, 1898, in Krasna, Russia, the son of George and Barbara (Bachmeier) Harsche. He was raised and educated in Russia and Shields. He came to the United States in 1909. Henry married Bergetta Klein Jan. 30, 1921, at Strasburg. She died in December 1976. He then married Florence Kwasiewski in 1979. He ranched in the Shields area from 1928 until his retirement. He was on the school board in Selfridge during that time. He had been living with his daughter in Bismarck for the last five years.
He was preceded in death by one son, Anton Sr.; one daughter, Anna; two great-grandchildren; his parents; and three sisters.

Henry Harsche, 95, Shields, died March 4, 1994, at a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. MST Tuesday, at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Selfridge. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Monday, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, and continues one hour prior to services at the church. A parish vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
